There are alot of different kinds of car enthusiast. Some want to be the fastest out there and compete for that, while others want to be fast and reliable. It will cost alot of money to run a Z that hard. Personally, I don't want to have to work on my car ALL the time. A reliable, 500hp, daily driver is my goal. I don't care about having the fastest ET or MPH. Its like in the Fast & Furious (Oh god no, but) when the guy juiced up his eclipse and blew it up just trying to win. Thats the way it goes, but I would rather lose and still drive my car home than win and rebuild. If I was going to be a serious drag racer, then I wouldn't use the Z. Not because its not fast enough, but because there are other cars that are easier and cheaper to get there. Everyone talks about Mustangs, because they are one of the cheaper, easier solutions for going very fast in a straight line. Around here, most of the guys who can't really afford to drag race professionally buy cheap mustangs, and build them themselves. Sure they rebuild the engines all the time, and most of them don't run too well all year long, but when they win its all that matters to them.
